Re: HOWTO: Lexmark Printers
Shame on W2vy not going through all the pages themselves and doing it for you.
As a matter of fact, I'm surprised W2vy isn't over at your house right now doing it for you.
We do have terrible support, don't we?

Now I get the "direct z600:/dev/usb/lp0 "Lexmark Lexmark 1200 Series" "Lexmark Printer"" message. Let's see if I can get it to work now.
Thank you for pushing me into the right direction :)
Hmm, "Stopping job because the scheduler could not execute a filter" and "cups-insecure-filter" still bother me...
Hey .. i have the same problem.. but i just figured it out. mine is a 32-bit system but anyways..what i did was google cups-insecure-filter and got a solution
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1313291
basically, you have to make sure that every file in /usr/lib/cups/backend and /usr/lib/cups/filter is owned by root
i used nautilus to sort file by owner.. find your way
and restart cups daemon after that
Code:
sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart

@yourlonglostpal: I'm glad to hear your printer is working as well :) Thanks for the note about the output.
@Kopasakis:
It looks like the problem might be here.
Did you install libstdc++5? Are you using a 64-bit system or a 32-bit system? The Z600 driver needs the 32-bit version of libstdc++5. So if you're using a 64-bit system, you need to install both versions of libstdc++5 (32-bit and 64-bit). Or if you're using a 32-bit system, you need to install just the 32-bit version of libstdc++5. Hope this helps.
Hi Shadowmage, I want to thank you again. After sorting my other issues with Karmic, I followed your howto and installed the printer on that too!

That's pretty right!
In my case I've got only 1 file (rastertoz600) not owned but root, so I used 2 commands in terminal:
Code:
cd /usr/lib/cups/filter
sudo chown root rastertoz600
Re: HOWTO: Lexmark Printers
Hi! I go to print a test page, and the message "Stopping job because the scheduler could not execute a filter" comes up, and the print job is cancelled. How can this be fixed please?

Still got the same problem.
sudo chown root:root /usr/lib/cups/filter
sudo chown root:root /usr/lib/cups/backend
is supposed to fix that problem, but it doesn't for me.
Have an HP F2480 (my last one was apparently broken, what would explain why all of my previous attempts were futile) now but this issue persists. It works, however, in Virtualbox, so it's not that bad.
