Black screen after booting from GRUB
Hello, I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and I have a weird problem with ubuntu, after installing it side by windows 7 so it's dual boot it worked fine and I installed updates and then a driver for my GPU, after I rebooted and got to the GRUB screen and loaded Ubuntu I get the purple loading screen and then the screen goes black and the generic "no signal found" message pops up. ( I have a HD radeon 5830 if that helps)
I've looked at other people with similar problems but they seem to get black screens at different points and I'm wondering how I can fix this?
Thanks.

Hi!, Trixj,
If you are still wanting Ubuntu, try pressing: 'Ctrl_Alt+F1' from the blank Screen.
It should give you a text terminal or TTY, where you can log in and do all sorts of things.
For example running 'startx' may give you a GUI Screen and/or a lot of error messages indicating what is wrong.
Post back what you get and for further instructions. Give details of your set-up & OS version.
Chao!, bogan.
