There's a library bug that hasn't been fixed for years. Installing an older version will do the trick, but I just learnt multithreading is the blame. Just disable that in your fuse and you should be fine. This is no problem unless you have multiple users on the same computer using thuse fuses at the same time.

I have a file server on my network running Ubuntu Server Edition. My Vista and XP boxes can see it without a problem.
Now I'm trying to set up another machine running Xbuntu. From Thunar or Gigolo I can see the network and get into the server. I can navigate through the file system until I reach a directory on which is mounted a second HDD. When I try to go further I get a "Permission Denied" error. What do I need to do now?
Re: How to: Xubuntu - Thunar Native Windows Network Browsing
I've got a problem, which looks like the one described by geecee.
I followed the guide from the first post of the thread to get an access to files located on a machine running Windows XP. In my /media/network directory I can see the shared folders, but I can't open them. When I double click on them thunar "thinks" for about a minute and then closes. After that "network" directory disappears from /media.
Could you please help me? :)
Re: How to: Xubuntu - Thunar Native Windows Network Browsing
Ever since I've upgraded to 9.10, I've got similar problems.
I spent a day trying to figure out what's wrong but I don't know..
Anyone come up with something, and I am interested. :)
Re: How to: Xubuntu - Thunar Native Windows Network Browsing
You can try to use pyneighborhood as a workaround if you want to use thunar with smb. Just do not forget to add Thunar as a default file manager there.
Re: How to: Xubuntu - Thunar Native Windows Network Browsing
How can I do that? Is there any guide? :)
Re: How to: Xubuntu - Thunar Native Windows Network Browsing
Code:
sudo apt-get install pyneighborhood
then just run it with the command:
It is just a GUI application which you can configure. What I did - I have added machines that I am usually using. In preferences I have specified File Manager - Thunar. For mount folder - I use "$HOME/network" (I am not sure if it understands $HOME - so it is better to specify the whole path).
When everything is configured - you just click on the samba machine that you want to open - it will automatically mount it to ~/network (or any other folder that you specified). Then you do right click on that and select in popup menu - open with file manager - and Thunar will open that folder.
P.S. It is also possible to browse the network.
Re: How to: Xubuntu - Thunar Native Windows Network Browsing
pyNeighborhood does not see any shares. Gigolo does not either. Neither does fusesmb.
But running smbtree sometimes shows all the shares just fine.
Re: How to: Xubuntu - Thunar Native Windows Network Browsing
Thank you! It worked great!
How can I make it mount all the shared folders with one click? Is there any script for this? :)
Re: How to: Xubuntu - Thunar Native Windows Network Browsing
Finally I returned back to "smbmount". This sims to be easier.
It's a pity thunar can't mount requested folders automatically with this command.
