Newbie (n00b) 101 Pt. 3 -- Guides + HOWTOs
With the utter surge of questions about sound, video card and wireless issues, it came to my attention that a Newbie 101 might be helpful to demystify the Tutorials and tips section.
As of June 6, 2008, there are currently 28 pages worth of great threads that probably solve most common issues that keep being repeated in the threads here.
The posts below will include a breakdown per problem/issue and links to applicable HOWTOs
(This is a work in progress, so please be patient while I compile everything. The posts will be edited painstakingly and by hand.)
Problems/issues with:
Sound
Video cards / Display
Wireless / Wifi / Bluetooth
Installation
Networking
CD/DVD ripping etc.
Firewall / Security / Antivirus
Keyboard / Mouse / Tablets / Language settings
Virtualization
Partitioning
Multimedia
iPod / mp3
Phones and synchronization
Backup / Restore
P2P / Torrents
Mounting / Auto-mounting
Ubuntu performance tweaks
Printers
Java
Click on the section link to view the applicable post. Unlinked sections are not yet compiled.
I really hope this helps.

Re: New to Ubuntu? Start here...
Hi all ;)
Currently working on Newbie 101 part 3 -- Guides and HOWTOs
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=820667
It's a work in progress, but the sound, video and wireless sections are well underway.
And since a lot of newbie posts apply to those, I figured it might be helpful, even unfinished.
Cheers,

Have a read here: http://www.psychocats.net --> that should give you a start
Then have a read here: http://www.ubuntuguide.org --> that will be more info
If you have further questions then (1) open a thread on them individually and (2) don't hijack other threads if it's not related.
