Acer Aspire 4810TZG CD Drive issue
Hi, I'm very new to the Ubuntu operating system and have grown to really like it, I have it dual-booting using Grub 2 alongside windows 7.
All my hardware works perfectly except my CD drive; it's not recognised by ubuntu. Ive seen this problem with this laptop on the internet but strangely unlike everyone else I can get the eject button to work however the OS itself cannot do this. Anyone with this laptop know that the eject button is not a mechanical button on the side on the cd drive which uses a spring system, its a button on the top right-hand corner of the laptop next to the speakers and indicator lights for the hard drive and WIFI etc.
Any fixes or work-arounds anyone knows?? Do you have this laptop and do/have had this problem
Laptop: Acer Aspire 4810TZG
Ubuntu Version: 12.10
CD Drive make and model: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ862AS
Thanks a lot in advance :)
Re: Acer Aspire 4810TZG CD Drive issue
I didn't know this problem existed, i have an acer laptop dedicated to linux. So i am
wondering since you can get the CD tray to open, what happens when you try to use an
application like XFBurn or Brasero?
