USB TV-Stick to receive Freeview
Okay ~ a UK question for a UK group. I'm afraid this is a repost of a question I asked in Absolute Beginners... but no one could help me there, and this is a strictly UK issue. So anyway.
All I want to know is the name of a USB TV-stick that will enable my hardy-running pc to play Freeview channels. Can anyone help me please?
Re: USB TV-Stick to receive Freeview
Have you looked into wintv? Its the only one I've ever used and it was a couple of years ago, on my machine which is now running Ubuntu. I found this guide on the matter;
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=298094
But I'm not sure how easy it is to set up, only looked through it quickly.
Get one fairly cheap there here;

Sorry I cant be of any more help.

It's a little late but I use a Hauppauge Nova-TD-USB. The Freeview works plus you have dual tuners and a remote :-)
Re: USB TV-Stick to receive Freeview
I use a Freecom USB DVB-T stick (version 4).
I gather versions 1-3 work too.
Version 4 has a driver for Hardy and Intrepid available which is easy to install.
Re: USB TV-Stick to receive Freeview
Thank you very much, all who have answered so far. ugm6hr's answer seems particularly promising. I will get a USB TV stick soon and will report results with both Hardy and Intrepid.
Re: USB TV-Stick to receive Freeview
There's an Ubuntu version out called Mythbuntu and since it can load onto a USB stick, maybe the Mythbuntu version can as well? Best of luck with that! ^_^

amishkumar - just copy & paste the output from lsusb anyway. Can you identify the TV tuner?
