hi guys,
i am a noob ubuntu user, my pc was fine until yesterday and now it says that i have an invalid partition table, i am using the live cd ubuntu 12.04 now since all my HDD is missing,

i was looking online for solutions and got this w the sudo fdisk -lu comand
Code:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo fdisk -lu

i think the red part is the problem but i dont know how 2 fix it, i have 2 missing partitions and the sda2 (win7) is way bigger than what i remember in that space there should be 3 partitions and not only the win7
Re: invalid partition table-wrong signature e1f5
It says running fdisk and doing a write will correct invalid entry, but I am not sure partition will stil be wrong. It size is not valid. Was it swap inside the extended partition and should have the same size and sector counts as the extended partition?
First backup partition table,
sudo sfdisk -d /dev/sda > parts_sda.txt
You can try fdisk.
this occasionally fixes issues and is worth trying:
you do the following :
fdisk /dev/sda
use option : x (expert mode)
use option : f (fix partition order)
use option : r (return)
use option : p (to print)
use option : v to verify partition
if it is ok
then you can do
option : w ( to write table to disk)
option : q to quit
else if it is not ok
then post the output of option p and v
But most have good sucess with fixparts.
Fixparts - Repair broken partition tables (not overlapping issues) & delete Stray gpt data from MBR drives

Re: invalid partition table-wrong signature e1f5
Since the issue was with a logical partition, did you save from fixparts and is it now correct?
post this to see if changed:
sudo fdisk -lu

it looks like this now...
Re: invalid partition table-wrong signature e1f5
That looks correct. But NTFS partitions have to have a valid NTFS PBR or partition boot sector. If if mounts and works it is ok. Otherwise fixBoot and chkdsk may be required. May be a good idea to run chkdsk anyway.
Why did data get corrupted. Have you used Disk Utility and looked at your drive? If you look on right side it shos Smart data on drive. It has lots of detail but all I know is green is good.
Always good idea to have current backups.

my little brother was using testdisk 2 change a swap>ntsf, i think he mess up some stuff
i find the problem w the table i never have a /dev/sdb1 with that size thats what cause the overlapping problem, so i delete it and fix it, i manage to recover 2 of the missing partitions and the chkdsk do the rest, still have one missing but i find the first sector 409,615,983
