Will do - am sort of going to do this in a very odd way - am holding back some packages
so far so good ...... as I am only really after getting the latest version of gnome-shell working
but have gone out and back in without rebooting yet and it seems faster now .......
But that might just be my perception of things ....... the monitor still is a tad high
but the processes seem now to be running individually - where before they were all working
in unison - so every core was going up and down at exactly the same time - now they are more
individual again ....... will be back in a tick I hope ..... reboot time now .........
So far so good - gnome-shell is running and it should be the later version now ....... but
lost the login and start for Wayland ...... got some more to do now ...... was getting bored and
also wondered if it would get my sound back which is annoying .... but at least I have symbols
showing for sound now in the hardware list.

I now have sound and look at that flat and beautiful .... ;)
Wayland still runs too ...........
If nerdopolis is still online - is the upgrade script still on here and what was it ?
long time back now can remember running one - thats if it still works
Have lost enlightenment too ...... are there shell or terminal commands I can run
to see what errors come back .......... enlightenment_start gets it working usually
but what about
( enlightenment is still working - just ran it as root - then ran it as a normal user )
am in it now with network and sound working too .... all going well - just one more
step to go ...... but I might just stick with this as it is for a while - am not fully upgraded
yet ...... but everything seems ok .......
I looked in the opt directory and see there was something named like below.
wayland-gnome-shell
seems to be missing now though ....
Onward - will continue with the full upgrade now and see what happens .........
still got a second version on this drive - just will have to go through everything
again if it dies ....... 9% of the total downloaded so far .......
Got to 91% and did a control c as I may just use this for a bit ...... and upgrade the
other version as I have less work to lose on that one ......... tomorrow I can get it
onto a wired connection and enable the wireless I think.
Gives me time to see what we have so far .........
Need gdebi
Need synaptic
Need gnome-control-center
These basically seemed to be the show stoppers today - tried doing the wireless upgrade
without having to go find a wired connection ....... but all my options relied on other
packages being already installed ...........
I have synaptic on now and also the wireless-tools
Used Alien of all things to install .deb files ........
Will come back after tea and do some more to it.
@23dornot23d
Its about time you took a tea break, let the cpu cool down !
@nerdopolis
Is there a way to get SWC to run or is it just work on intel ?
I think the developer said something about Intel, and it works on my Intel box.
Will do cecil ..... am only confusing things at the moment with trying to get to run two versions
running - so will return when I have one working where I can show something off that matters.
The wayland-gnome-shell and the E19 - wayland seem to be the ones I should be
concentrating on .... so will only return if I have anything of real importance - tend
to show what I do step by step to retrace things - (will use rednotebook) for now until both are up
to somewhere near the same standard.
OK Keith, good luck. I think my laptop is too old and slow, cant even get the dvd to go and the wireless is not working.....
Sure would like to see that SWC !!!
Just a video here showing You tube works and the browser in wayland

There is a video on here - but it looks like a lot of terminal / console input to get anything to run
