It just so happens that I came here and now I notice that today is your anniversary... One year since joining Ubuntu.
I came over here to see what I could see and thought I'd say hi. You've been so nice.
Hi, I thought it made more sense to just send you a short note regarding your interest in speech-to-text for linux. I found a couple of possibilities, but it looks like speech-to-text still needs a lot of work. Here is a wikipedia page with a few listings that you could check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speech_...ition_in_Linux Also, there is sphinx4, if you don't mind compiling it yourself: http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/sphinx4/ Sphinx2 is available via Synaptic... This is on SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/speech2text/ There is also this, which looks promising in that it is intended to be used on the Gnome desktop: http://live.gnome.org/GnomeVoiceControl/Guadec2008 That's a start, any way. I won't make a habit of private messaging you, but I thought in this instance you wouldn't mind. Regards, Didius
