I am happy that you go to computer science, i also attend the same thing but sadly in Romania (. Nonetheless i thought about an SSD but that would only be my root. Oh and what i have heard from friends SSDs have to be configured in fstb cuz otherwise you risk burning them out, this was a problem for sure in 8.something ubuntu, but is it still present? Regarding the fact that i asked for your provenience, i saw your name and, well it is a russian-ukrainian-romanian name, i cleared that up just to reduce the informational entropy | BTW nice captain cave-penguin u got there, looks really neat.
also, if you have a few bucks to spare, get a ssd drive for your laptop, i had a 30 gig and i threw it in, boots up in 7 seconds after bios. u prob never saw anything boot that fast. and it has the fastest boot time that i ever saw. that goes for any computer. saving up now for a ssd for my desktop.
Currently California, came here from Ukraine in 1990. Going to school now for Comp Science degree..
nope, it doesn't heat up. for me i noticed that the ATI cards (now AMD) heat up more. go with the nvidia. better driver compatibility. only downside is battery life with the i5 processor. ..
