You did say you were reading a book by Richard Feynman, I saw a great Nova special about his life, his sense of humor, his involvement with the investigation of the Challenger disaster...(he told his wife he didn't want to serve on that commission after having been asked to by, I believe, Jimmy Carter, -- his wife told him "If you go there will be an investigation; if you don't there will be 9 men running around -- getting nowhere." He said, I smell a rat (probably kickbacks at NASA) he was the one who discovered the crash was caused by the O rings. In the beginning of the special he was playing his bongos and singing, "Got to have my o ring juice, (as in orange juice).
Anyway, he died not long thereafter.
