With Hardy, it worked pretty much since the beginning. One thing I should mention is that I do not use PulseAudio (I don't think the card works in Pulse). I am using Alsa for just about everything and all of my recording is done through Jack using Alsa as well. The computer that I am using has on board sound and I have never used it. In fact, the on board sound has been disabled for years now. Let me know if you decide to upgrade and I'll help you out if needed.
