Well I'm using Unity2D right now in 11.10, and it's quite fast right now. I've got Sync to VBlank disabled, and I have tear-free enabled in Catalyst. Just wish I was able to edit the size of the launcher in Unity2D as my launcher is getting pretty full right now, lol.

As for the backports, that isn't a problem with Ubuntu...it's mainly an issue with the developers that do the coding the programs and stuff...they feel it's a waste of time to write backports for older versions of Ubuntu. At least that is what I read somewhere like last year I think.

I must admit I broke my intentions last night, and installed 11.10. lol Some programs I need there was no updated backports for Lucid. (VLC, Filezilla being 2 of them).

As for Unity in 12.04, it is much better than it ever was in 11.04 and now 11.10. It's so much faster.

Well other than that Nor'easter that slammed into us back before Halloween, not much snow to be honest. We've only had sporadic spurts of it which only drops a few inches and is gone pretty much the next day Our estimated accumulation of snow for the winter season of 2011-2012 has only been 13.8 inches, when it's usually round 45 total inches for the season. I'm not involved with Lubuntu Team and we are doing great so far (hopefully). It keeps me busy big time so I'm glad and thankful. Life became so hard and if you can't find something that will give you some kind of relief, it's going to be harder beside nothing like helpful and supporting others
