The problem we had a while back with conky displaying for a split second after switching windows in Gnome-Shell.

Found by accident that if the position of conky was just overlapping the top panel it worked correctly.

If I positioned conky just below the top panel .... then the flickering of a
second ghost one would appear in the top left ..... hope this makes sense.

But for me overlapping the top panel slightly works to solve the problem for me ..... hope this is useful to you.

Quackers I must apoligize for being abrupt yesterday I was trying to get the kid to tell me what
he did to the drive before he asked for assistance and he finally choked out what really happened.
I new he was a youngster and I new something was just not right. Trying to get a kid to fess up to
what he actually did to his drive was tough. Take care Quackers and please accept my apoligy. I myself read the bootscript wrong from the get-go so only have myself to blame for getting involved in bad thread.

I really don't know why it wasn't working straight away. Maybe some of the gurus can come up with an answer.
I suspected W7 boot would not need re-doing after re-installing grub. W7 seems more robust in that respect (at least when all the boot files are on one partition anyway!).
Nice job. I hope you didn't lose too much weight worrying!
