Toz. Who is the runner in your avatar ?

    It should be called 'Colonization'

You were listed as a mod on the Virtualisation thread - think Virtualisation is misspelled and should be Visualization.

Greetings, Toz... I just wanted to stop by and say thank you once again for all that you've done for me. I love this little laptop so much, thanks to you helping me put it together. You are an extremely valuable asset to the Ubuntu Forums... Thank You

Hi Toz. You had such great suggestions before. Could you look at my thread and see if you have any suggestions on why my laptop will not shutdown?

Just installed Xubuntu 12.04 on a friend's laptop, upgrading him to the latest. Offered him Ubuntu and showed him a couple other desktops but, like so many to whom I introduce Ubuntu (or variants), he likes being able to see the "window buttons" in the panel. He had been using 11.10 Ubuntu and never cottoned to the launcher (either popping up when it shouldn't or not popping up when it should) or the lack of panel window-buttons. As in Windows and Gnome, he likes to see what apps are open and easily switch to them. I *do* think Ubuntu may eventually have to concede this point. The launcher is semi-functional at best and clumsy at worst. But that's not the reason I'm writing. I installed Xubuntu on an older HP laptop (dual core but stripped down), and had to set LCD hinting to default (as with my own laptop). And as with my own, once LCD hinting was set to default, slight hinting and RGB did wonders. LCD Hinting is night and day when it comes to Xubuntu.

Ok... I reported the bug and tested some upstream kernels... and meanwhile I found this:

"With 10.10 we have also dropped support for i586 and lower processors, as well as i686 processors without cmov support."

    from this release notes page

And since you are so knowledgeable and helpful, I thought I might ask you if there is a way to add a module to support that in the newer kernels, or do I need to learn how to compile my own kernel and add this support back in?

You seem to have the most answers whenever i look at posts lol so figure ill go to the source. Know anything about Ubuntu 11.04 64bit freezing up randomly? I read a few posts on the net about it just being the 64 bit.
