Hi, the language of my user title is Latin, and it says "When we help, we benefit". I draw a lot using Inkscape, a vector graphics program, and use Gimp more for graphics editing (it isn't as good for graphic creation yet, but it is getting there). I didn't draw the profile picture, that is from foxkeh.com, but my avatar was a traced over and then modded picture of a fox made using Inkscape. My tip would be to follow some tutorials, but mostly to try to figure out how others made their pictures and try to duplicate their effects. Also, a lot of photoshop tutorials can be transfered over to the GIMP with just a change of plugin names.
