I'm pretty sure the avatar is a reference to the clay golem thing that's animated when a Rabi writes something on its forehead, don't remember much of the story though.

In my view software is like a shovel. I do not agree with a shovel manufacturer that sells shovels with an 30 page agreement saying that the shovel may only be used for dirt.
