Tony I believe the beans are just a bit of fun, along with the 'ranking' you get under your name. You receive beans for posts in any of the support forums (not in the 'fun' sections) but one bean = one post, irrespective of whether it is a question or support, my '55 merit beans' should have read 'only 55 merited (were deserving of) beans' as most of mine might be considered 'stupid questions'. Glad there are guys like you and your associates out there helping us 'normal folk' along. I first used linux 2 years ago, and finally adopted it for my sole OS last year. It is the first time I have been really interested in my computer as more than just a tool to do a job. I am slowly (very) teaching my self about the command line and some scripting and this forum and people like yourselves imparting their knowledge is invaluable in my learning and enjoyment. Keep up the good work, Mike
Sorry to contact you direct, I am trying not to mess up the thread for "Hippytaff"with general chat. Does "55 merit beans!!!" mean that the site will log how many fixes have been credited against your account. I have never posed a question in the forum, as I spend as much time as possible trying to fix and help out. I am quiet lucky that I work with a very strong team of Network tech heads that all use Linux, so I bounce some of the problems off them. Do we have a way of finding out who has experience so that I can gage my answers.
