I am excited... but I think I will wait. I am also working on my thesis... and don't want to risk anything at the moment.
I have pulseaudio installed and have this "remove sound devices" thing too. Bahhh, it will go away I think at some point in the near future.
However, I don't have problems with sound. Generally, whenever there is a problem, I launch pulseaudio's volume-control and check things there or select something that works under the "configuration" tab ( currently all things work fine with "Analog Surround 5.1 Output + Analog Stereo Input" ).
Sorry for not seeing this message on-time. I don't hang around in the forums lately (no time).
happy upgrading, enjoy the fabulous kde4!
writing a thesis right now, no time and wish to risk anything.. i'll wait for the moody monkey (?) instead.
ps: only bug that affects me now is that, every some 10 bootups, kde starts complaining about "removed sound devices", and indeed audio does not work on some applications (using pulseaudio?), e.g. flash. rebooting again is generally sufficient. let me know if this ever happened to you with karmic, and if it still happens with lucid.
