Hi all,

I'm taking advantage of the "buy a Dell XPS M1530 and get a Dell Mini 9 for $99" deal that Dell is having. Unfortunately, I have to buy a Vista Dell, so I'm trying to make sure the hardware will work. Everything appears to be OK, but I'm a little worried about the wireless card. The three options I have are:

1. Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Mini Card
2. Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Mini-card
3. Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card

Now, I believe the Dell ones are Broadcom, and I know their support is iffy. This leads me to getting the Intel one, but I haven't found any conclusive evidence that it will work flawlessly in Ubuntu 8.10. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Well, I am an idiot. I was searching for the wrong thing on the forum "Future N" instead of "Next-Gen Wireless-N". Turns out the Intel one works great, so I'm going with that.

Yes, I have the Intel 4965 (Intel wireless-N), it works without any problems, out of the box on Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10.

Don't get the Dell-brand WiFi card, as far as I know it uses a Broadcomm chipset, and getting it to work on Linux requires some work. Also, many people in the forums here seem to complain about the Intel 3945 (an older Intel WiFi chip, without 802.11n support).
