I'm going to be getting my girlfriend a laptop for x-mas. I have Ubuntu on my home computer and she loves it. She's getting around okay in it. I was going to go ahead and spring for the "safe" vista model (I know a lot of you are cringing, lol), but since she has taken to Ubuntu, I think I'll stick with that.

I must say, I am extremely dissapointed with Dell; while they ARE selling systems with Ubuntu preloaded, it's almost laughable. I did a price comparison of a vista versus ubuntu setup: Both systems I customized came to roughly 600 bucks. The vista machine's specs blew the doors off of the ubuntu machine.

Enough ranting... what is a good laptop to buy? If it comes with Ubuntu preloaded, all the better. I just am not going back to Dell.
