my problem is that i'm running ubuntu 8.04 on a dell lattitude. i have a gforce go 440 card (that's what it says i have at least). but every time i install ubuntu, update, and then install the restricted driver for the video card. after that, the boot screen comes up after the reboot, then the screen goes black, like gdm's gone dead. any ideas? help would be much appreciated.
