AVI playback problem

I have a problem playing AVI's after playing DVD's. AVI's play fine when the computer is freshly rebooted and will play fine until I play A DVD. The DVD's always play fine but after playing a dvd any other format like AVI opened with VLC, Kaffine or other players, the video plays like Im looking at a Negative of the video, all the colors are messed up....

Any Ideas as to what causes this? or a fix?
