How do I record audio and save it on my computer.
I have Nero, Ubuntu 8.10, Miro and Rhythmbox.

I would also like to be able to save vido from TED and YouTube.

I use these audiovisual resources to teach English and I do now always have internet access in the places where I teach so I want to be able to bring the audio and video files with me, stored on my computer or on a USB flash drive.

Here is an example of an mp3 file located at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/flatmates/episode163/index.shtml

that I would like to save for later use in the non-internet classroom.

I have used Nero in the past, on the Msft side of the partition to record songs from my personal music CDs (also for classroom use) but I have never recorded audio or video from internet sources.

Thanks for hints, guidance, links, and/or instructions...

To download the MP3, on the page there's a link saying "Download mp3". Just right-click that and choose "Save link as".

There are Firefox plugins for downloading YouTube videos, such as this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3590

Either (1) look in /tmp
(2) Download some firefox add-ons that can do the trick. I know there are a few for downloading youtube videos!
