Hi, Yesterday i was trying to install Ubuntu/Xubuntu but from some reason it didn'r work. I've booted from the LiveCD and I've tried to install, th en I had the Xubuntu logo on a screen and after few seconds the screen turned black and it stucked on it. I've also tried to try running XUbuntu from the LiveCD and install it from there, but once again the black screen got in my way. In the end I've ended up installing Xubuntu from windows XP, but i don't want to have 2 operating systems...
oh, and btw, i've also tried booting from a flash drive and it didn't work either (Boot error...)

What's the spec of your machine? Another alternative is using the alternate CD which is a text based installer. Shouldn't be too hard to follow.

Seconded last reply. Without your machine specs, we couldn't provide any help. Also, state whats there on the last screen when it stopped working, it'll be easier to recognize the problem.

intel pentium 4 processor 2.4Ghz
256 MB RAM

the last screen I see is with the Xubuntu logo and a black/blue loading bar, when it starts to load the bar starts to fill up with the blue color, and at the end the screen turns black, then the "x" mouse cursor shows up, it disappears and...that's it.
