Every version of ubuntu, even 7.10 supplied by Dell, sets up with my router without encryption and with WEP. When I attempt to use WAP the password is corrupted and my wireless link will not work and this is common with other distributions based on ubuntu, Mint, Sidux etc. A string of garbage replaces the password.

WAP works fine with PCLinuxOS.

Apologies if this question has been posted before, I have searched the forum, your help would be appreciated.

Regards
Graham

Thank you for the reply I don't think that information will help.

The problem is ubuntu specific. I can connect to the router using WEP and also without encryption. Put a WAP password in, save it without starting the wireless connection, go back the password entry it has been corrupted by a long string of data and the connection does not work.

Using the same equipment with for example PCLinuxOS set up exactly the same there is no problem.

Thanks again
