It appears that I'm stuck with 2.6.24-19

The latest upgrade gives me whitescreen, which is far worse than having my wireless connection bite dirt like wot it did with the last one.

Oh dear oh dear. I smell the need to find a distro wot works.

Help!

Okay. That was an experience to say the least.

Long story made short:

Managed to lose the white screen in 2.6.24-22 by removing and then reinstalling the ATI drivers with EnvyNG (thank you Yakuake for allowing me to "metacity --replace" blindly through the whitescreen!). Problem is, wireless still doesn't work (same as 2.6.24-21) AND now I'm stuck with an 800x600 screen resolution and the same whitescreen if compiz is invoked :-(

Out of curiosity I downloaded the latest ISO and tried running the live CD to see whether my wireless card works 'out of the box'. It doesn't.

So then... back to 2.6.24-19 just to get back to a working OS.

Disappointing really.

Marking this one as solved, just in case anybody else has been stuck with 2.6.24-19-generic until now.

Everything seems fully functional today after the upgrade to 2.6.24-23

Wireless is working fine and there's no whitescreen any more after booting with compiz enabled.

:guitar:

2.6.24-23 :-) Hail Eris!
