I've been struggling and struggling with trying to get a very basic share working properly through Samba. It isn't working.
What I want is the Linux equivalent of the very easy Windows share: Right-click on a folder/directory, choose file sharing, and enable it for all users. Bam, done! I can now access that share across the network (assuming my network is set up correctly).
Does this not exist in Linux/Ubuntu? I am running Intrepid, and I just want to open up a folder for any user on my home network to view, edit, modify files in it or in its subdirectories, without messing with permissions and groups and users and so on...just open it up to all. Am I missing something simple somewhere that would enable me to do this without any hassles?
Thanks!
