Hi,

I'm new to Linux and thought I'd try it out with VMware (Version2.5.1 build-126130) and Ubuntu (8.10). Ubuntu loads fine but i'm having issues with the keyboard - A large number of the keys seem to be incorrectly mapped. e.g.:

1. Pressing 'z' gives me a 'y' and vice-versa
2. Pressing '=' gives me a single quote
3. Pressing '-' gives me a greek beta
4. Pressing SHIFT backslash to get a pipe (|) gives me a right chevron (>)

etc...

I have tried setting the keyboard in System->Preferences->Keyboard to Dell and choosing various of the Dell configurations (the laptop is a Dell XPS M1330) but that hasn't made any difference even with a reboot.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Ok, for anyone interested the problem here was that a US/UK keyboard layout had to be added via System->Keyboard.
