I am running an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop and the resolution for Ubuntu 8.10 is quite low. It is currently at 800 x 600, and that is a little bit lower than I was asking for. Is their anyway to make it increase higher?

Also, is there any way to set it to wide screen? The pixels are VERY stretched. Between these two problems I can barely see the screen.

Go to System>Preferences>Screen Resolution and change it from there.
If you cannot set it to a higher resolution than 800x600, it might be that you need to enable the restricted drivers for your video card. To do that go to System>Administration>Hardware Drivers and enable the restricted drivers for your card.

By the way, what video card are you using? Nvidia?
My Nvidia card on my desktop is having problems with its drivers, if you also have this card, I suggest researching more about it in this forum. Good luck to you.
