stupid volume button problem

Sometime around upgrading to 8.1 and adding Ubuntu Studio, I found a side effect. The on-board volume buttons stopped working! They light up ok. Just don't do anything. Do I need to reassign them somewhere?

Take a look under the Keyboard Shortcuts section in System -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts and make sure the right ones are set. I had the same problem with my Multimedia Buttons on my notebook.

Thanks. I checked that out. The keyboard shortcuts are set correctly. A screen icon pops up and it looks like its working but it doesn't change the volume.
