what up all??

help!!!!

i hav been using ubuntu 7.10 for the last year, and it has worked fine for the last year, i hav been using it on my dell inspiron 6400, the wireless on it worked fine on 7.10 after installing the drivers inside "hardware and drivers".

two days ago i did a reinstallation using the 8.4 ubunut disk. every thing has worked fine, except the wireless, when i go into "hardware and drivers" there is no hardware listed in there,

i lov ubunut and i dont want to go back to ****** windows vista just cos of a problem with the wifi in ubuntu, i hav seen a gide to installing it using nidswrapper (on the dell inspiron 6400) but the gide is for ubuntu eadgy, also i hav heard that nidswrapper can really screw up ur wifi if you dont know what ur doing, also i dont want to have to walk to the ethanet cable (at the other end of the house) just like i am having to do at the moment.

plz help

It should all still work, I have a 6400 too, the drivers are now all included in 8.04 hardy, of which i'm using now.
I know the wireless light doesn't work in 8.04 now when it used to in 7.10.
This is not an indication of the wireless device not working though.
Just try left clicking on network manager anyway, you might be surprised.

Let me know how you get on, I'm sticking with hardy as it works so well for me.
