:confused:need help..preparing to install ubuntu..know nothing about command lines..also wish to learn about programming..need most basic books...all suggestions deeply appreciated...no experience at all.

I recommend the title from APRESS books.

best ubuntu book i've ever had, and/or seen.

The way I learned almost everything about Linux is by trial and error. If I need something done on my machine or any servers, I look online for a way of doing it. Simple as that.

I would start with terminal commands on work your way up from there.

Burn a livd cd and have a play first of all. It does not install if you pick the option to try ubuntu.

Hi. For the installation process you don't have to know almost anything about terminals as it uses a GUI. You will need to know something about filesystems, though. Here's a link to the most common filesystem used by most Linux distributions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ext3
