Hello
I am new to this but is it posible to make ubuntu or xubuntu look like gOS?

I just switched from gOS 3.0 to Xubuntu 8.10 and I miss the gadgets and the cool theme.

Thank you.

Find out about the adesklets package, if available anymore via the universe repos.

First, get some desklets (http://adesklets.sourceforge.net/desklets.html). I've never ran adesklets before in my life, but according to their site (http://adesklets.sourceforge.net/doc/en/Using-adesklets.html#Using-adesklets), you'll have to use the command line for all this.

There is an alternative to adesklets, as I'm more of a gnome man, gdesklets has a menu item in the menus. But you'll want to uninstall adesklets to install gdesklets.

Just in case gdesklets don't appear in the menus under accessories, you can run gdesklets via the terminal, as sometimes Xubuntu doesn't put certain apps where they should go.
