I'm using a compaq evo N620c and installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 8.10. Everything works flawless except that i have no backlight control using the default gnome applet ("cannot get laptop panel brightness").

I really need this because i have some broken keys (Bad connector on mainbord, i remapped the keys so no problem) and the down Key is one of them, so i can't use the Fn+F10+up/down function.

I'm certain that it can be controlled using software (hp-tool works in xp) so i need a fix for the gnome applet, or another easy to use tool (First linux exp, so i prefer an program with a gui, but with a decent explanation i can do some terminalwork aswell)
