View Full Version : [ubuntu] Using a digital camera as a webcam SKYPE

I would like to gain info and insight from this post.

I have a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P1000. It does not have a "webcam" mode that is available via USB but it does have RCA Video/Audio out connectors. This means that when you make the correct connections to the Video/audio IN on the television you will see a live video feed or slideshow of pics that are on the cameras internal card......

I have a Windows XP box that has a T.V. card which supports video/audio "In" via RCA.

If I launch the software that came with this card, which allows users to watch t.v., record programs or even view live video feeds then as long as this program is open SKYPE will also use this same live video feed from the camera to display as a Skype video feed to whom ever I may be speaking with.

If I close the T.V. program then Skype's video feed stops transmitting.

So the question is this, does TVTIME allow alternative video/audio "in" support. Like from a digital cameras? If so, then I'm wondering if Skype would work in the same way as in my Windows XP example???

Any thoughts, ideas, insight appreciated!!!!
