Since I had previously only run Ubuntu, when I recently installed Kubuntu 8.10 I was unable to find the GUI sources editor I have relied on.

Are there any near-comprehensive source lists out there for we noobs who only know the sources that you can enable through the Ubuntu Software Sources editor?

I liked that Ubuntu guided me on what was and wasn't supported, and by whom, rather than having to seek out and find individual sources.

Thanks!

since ubuntu and kubuntu both use the same repos you can still open the /etc/apt/sources.list

Open it using
kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources.list and add in that like you would in ubuntu.

Adept is kubuntu's equivalent to ubuntu's Synaptic

Thank you!

I had actually learned how to edit the sources list manually thanks to someone else in this fine forum. What I am really concerned about is where do I find new sources, and how do I know what they contain?

That is, is there a list out there somewhere that details the various sources available, what they contain, who maintains them, if they're supported, and similar information?

Thanks!
