Hello,

I have setup Mythbuntu with an Hauppauge Nova-TD-500 (the diversity model) and everything seems to be working nicely except for the remote control.

cat /proc/bus/input/devices yields:

Suggests that LIRC at least sees something...

I have also tried /etc/init.d/lirc start

But get the following:

simon@adaephon:/dev/input$ /etc/init.d/lirc start
* Loading LIRC modules [ OK ]
* Unable to load LIRC kernel modules. Verify your
* selected kernel modules in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf

irw also gives me a Connection refused error.

Basically I'm stuck. I think LIRC is recognising that something exists, but beyond that nothing seems to work. Unfortunately, as I'm sure is evident, my Linux skills are limited...

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I had the same problem, If I had used irw to check my remote control, there are cryptic symbols on my screen.

I have downladed the latest firmware from the hauppauge webpage to fix this. Now my remote control for a NOVA T-500 is working well.

It's seems, that a corrupted dib0700 firmware is inside the mythbuntu 8.10.

Hope tis will fix your problem.

A sample short description of my /etc/lirc/hardware.conf:

#Chosen Remote Control
REMOTE="Hauppauge Nova-T 500"
REMOTE_MODULES=""
# REMODE_MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_i2c"
REMOTE_DRIVER="devinput"
REMOTE_DRIVER""
REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/input/event6"
REMOTE_LIRCD_CONF="hauppauge/lircd.conf.hauppauge_novat500"
REMOTE_LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Chosen IR Transmitter
TRANSMITTER="None"
TRANSMITTER_MODULES=""
TRANSMITTER_DRIVER=""
TRANSMITTER_DEVICE=""
TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_CONF=""
TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_ARGS=""

Best regards

TheConsultant,

Thanks for your help. I am running dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20 of the firmware, which I downloaded, rather than using Mythbuntu's default. Should I revert back to 1.10?

I have tried Hauppauge's website but can't find anything Linux related -- perhaps you have a direct link?

Many thanks.

I tried running dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw but this prevents the card from playing any TV at all.

I'm still at a loss -- can anyone else help?

Thanks for the helpful posts.

I have a slightly different take on this problem. Every time I unplug the reconnect my USB tuner the 'input' number changes.

Currently it's
Sysfs=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:13.2/usb1/1-5/input/input9

I have now unplugged then reconnected the USB stick and the input number has changed
S: Sysfs=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:13.2/usb1/1-5/input/input10

Any suggestions on how to make this 'stick'?

Thanks

You will need to make the input event static,
see this site

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV_Nova-T_500_PCI#IR_Receiver

But basically you create a shortcut to your device and refer to that as an input device. Its been a while since I did this so if you have trouble let me know and I'll have a better look. I've been meaning to do a nice "how to" for this and put it on my Wiki for some time.

If you have the newer all black Hauppauge remote I have some preconfigured files on my site here (http://mythkiwi.com/index.php/remository?func=select&id=5)
