Hi
I have installlation problem.
I am new to Ubuntu/Linux systems. I recently started using MS VPC 2007 to try out new softwares.
Today I tried installing Ubuntu 8.10. Downloaded an ISO , burned CD, compared the checksum using the utility for windows and it is fine. My system is Dell Vostro 1400, 2GB RAM, Windows XP Home.
In VPC, it boots from CD, I select Language, Select "Safe Graphic Mode" and then try to install using "Install" or "Try without changing..." options but it comesback with black screen showing some trace messages and stops. CD spins for sometime and stops.
I could not get snap shot of messages out of VPC to show u guys the actual messages....Hope somebody have idea how I can resolve this.
I followed all the instruction posted here -

I guess VPC means virtuall pc ? you trying to install ubuntu on something like vmware right?
Just a suggestion if you tied the install using the desktop ISO image and that did not work, try using the alternate install ISO which has a text based installer.

First, I suggest if you not publish your e-mail address on forums, it can easily becrome a target for spam.
Second I suggest you try VMWare or virtualBox.
If you are having issues with a Microsoft product you might also consider contacting Microsoft support.

About e-mail address, somehow while registering I put my e-mail address for userid :( , may be google "Autofill" fiiled it automatically, is there anyway I can change userid now ?
About Ubuntu installation, I tried "wubi.exe" and it installed the Ubuntu in a 16GB partition, so now I get option at boot time to select which OS I want to boot from, I am OK with that for now. Thanks for all help and suggetions.:)
