I think what you're looking for is a virtual machine, but you weren't very specific.

hey

if your looking for virtualization (starting windows inside ubuntu) then there is a section of the forum just for that kind of stuff (virtualization) however if you want to run just a few windows applications in ubuntu then wine (a program) is your best bet. Theres also crossover which does the same job but theres a small fee.

Well I think what you are trying to say is if you can run a windows program in a LINUX. But I think you should just consider making a double system so that you won't have a hard time on figuring out how to run a Linux program in Windows or vise versa.

Virtualbox-ose is probably the best way.
Install that and it's guest additions from synaptic.
Not everything works in wine.
