I have compize installed. I have the rotating desktop cube plugin installed. It works on all of my ubuntu desktops just not a guest os that is running full screen. Sometimes if i press the ctrl+alt then a mouse click it works but 98% of the time it doesn't. Any ideas?

You didn't mention what type of virtual machine software you are using, but most of them don't support hardware graphics acceleration. This could be the cause of your problems.

Virtual Box does not support 3D Acceleration. VMWare's 'Workstation' supports DirectX 8 (or DX9 if you're willing to use a beta release).

Any ideas? If you are using Virtualbox, you need to press the Right Control key first to switch control of the keyboard and mouse from the guest OS back to the host OS. Then you can use the ctrl+alt+LeftMouse to rotate the cube.
