this is the screenshot image while using ubuntu 8.04(32 bit)
of VLC player playing video.

installed ATI catalyst control center version 1.8
driver version 8.47.3
graphics card - ati mobility radeon hd 3400 series
256 mb dedicated.

while i am watching videos or movies the pixel are looking scattered i have taken a screenshot and posting it.

please help me out the picture looked like pixel are scattered,

while i use vista basic 32 bit, video looks fantastic using the vlc.

what is the reason video playing does not look good in ubuntu, plese help me out to fix it. i tried video output X11 in vlc, but not find any option for x11 output.

i tried all other player also but nothing works.

kindly help me out i am very new to ubuntu don't know very much about it.

Where is this video hosted? What resolution is it? Could you post a screenshot of this same video in Windows? This image looks like flash video. The quality is just about on par for VP6 encoded flash video at a relatively low resolution and bitrate, and I wouldn't expect it to look any better, regardless of which OS you're viewing it in.

Perhaps your grapics driver has some sort of image "enhancement" running that helps to smooth images like this somewhat. This feature may or may not be available for the linux driver . . . you'll have to check with ATI for that.
