Fresh install of Ubuntu 8.10 on my desktop, I installed restricted hardware, rebooted and everything was fine and resolution was perfect. I installed restricted media extras and rebooted and got the following error.

Ubuntu is running in low graphis mode

(EE) NVIDIA (0) : Failed to load the NVIDIA Kernal Modual!
(EE) NVIDIA (0) : ***Aborting***
(EE)bu Screen(s) found but none have usable configuaration

This leads me to a menu
where I can use defaul or reconfigure/troubleshoot

no matter what I do it ends up booting to a screen full of lines and blinking lines and all distored, any ideas on how I can fix this. I installed ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop last night and never had this problem.

** My graphic card that I have is a NVIDIA Geforce 6800

Thanks in advance for help!
