Hi gang,

Just got a new Asus M50VC notebook & installed intrepid (64bit). Everything works well, except the monitor's auto-brightness feature - it's insanely overactive. I tend to have a TV on in the background when working, and the monitor is like a disco - constantly flickering brighter & dimmer in a far-from helpful way.

Anyone have any suggestions for disabling auto-brightness in Ubuntu? I've had a look through the Asus BIOS, but can't seem to find anything relelevant. The +/- Brightness function keys don't seem to respond in Ubuntu. :-/

Any suggestions most appreciated.

Cheers,
- JB

I've just bought one of those and can't get the audio to work in ubuntu. My laptop is an asus m50vc-AS037c. Could you get the audio to work? If so, could you tell me where to download it? Any info will be very appreciated.
