Hey all, I installed 7.10 on my laptop a while back, but i got rid of it because of faulty ram. So I got a new one, and installed 8.10 on it. The installation went fine until I tried to configure the wireless.

I have a HP DV5000 and a broadcom 4318 wireless card. I had the drivers on hand, and tried to install them. But they required an internet connection to be installed. I visited my friend and mouched his wired cable connection (it is a working connection i am sure). I pluged it into my laptop and it recognized the wired connection. Problem is that it was going extremly slowly. Websites would load about 50% of the time but the problem is that the terminal doesnt seem to recognize it. When I try to install the driver it just hangs on the "recieving information from x" showing speeds of 512 bytes/sec then 100, then 0.

I am really running out of ideas here, what should I do?
