View Full Version : [ubuntu] wireless card not found!

November 17th, 2008, 08:43 PM
Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to linux but I'm quite experienced with computers and seem to be having trouble with my wireless.

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 on a Compaq Presario c769us 32bit.

I went on and installed ndiswrapper and downloaded my wireless cards windows drivers installer, extracted the .inf file out of my windows driver, and installed with ndiswrapper. After I installed, it still went on to say that the wireless card cannot be found, so I tried rebooting. Upon rebooting, I attempted to complete the process again, by going to System > Administration > Windows Wireless Drivers. The utility won't even open now! You see in the task bar it pops up for a second but then immediately disappears, and I am still without wireless internet.

Someone please help me!

Just incase someone wants to go ahead and try finding different drivers.
