I've just installed intrepid from the alternate install cd.
A box came up telling me to enable the nvidia driver for my GeForce fx5200 PCI graphics card. I did this, restarted, and when the logon appears its at some tiny resolution (like 640 x 480).

So i went into the nvidia settings and changed it to 1024x768. This worked but now everythings really small.Like the titlebar text is so smalll I can't even read it, the panel is also small, pretty much everything. I hadn't changed any other settings or anything.

Also on restart it all starts over again (back to tiny res) and system settings says the same res as nvidia settings.

I have desktop effects enabled and am using a new lcd monitor.

I wouldn't even know where to start with this one.

Any suggestions?

I had very similar problem with fonts,
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6143197

Although it will not help you, as I was getting it randomly...

The bad thing about it that the problem was not there in 8.04, and 8.04 had more options regarding custom resolutions.

Thanks for your reply.

I have the same problem with the fonts but I can't see a way to fix it

Well, I've changed the fonts in system settings but some fonts are still small; such as google eath and adept.
