Fullscreen vids the frame rate slows down

Hello,

For some reason every time i put whatever movie i'm watching into fullscreen the frame rate slows down. I've tried watching low and hiquality movies using totem and vlc player and it happens on both. Any suggestions on how i may have the movies run at the same speed whether it is fullscreen or not?

what video card does the machine have...
if you the video playback program is not using hardware then fullscreen will take a lot more cpu power. If you are using totem then I reccomend trying totem-xine instead. (also this doesn't really belong in multimedia production - you might get more replies in the other multimedia forum)
