Hi,
I have been trying to install CoD on to Ubuntu using wine. The first CD installs OK, but when it comes to loading the 2nd CD it wont release the first from the drawer. I have tried mounting the CD drive manually, and in a second terminal, running the setup, then unmounting the drive from the first terminal, but no joy.
The only way it will release the CD is if I close down the setup screen.
Can anyone help??
Ben.

Did you try the Loki installer for Call of Duty?

Good idea, and thanks for the link, but it is giving me errors regarding being unable to load sound. But at least I was able to get the second CD on.
The error reads; Miles sound system initialization failed. The single player game does not work properly without sound. Make sure you have your sound cards latest drivers and DirectX installed.

I'm having the exact same issue with CoDSP.exe, but with CoDMP.exe I get a different error, this time about soundfiles not being loaded. The CoD console is also full of "cannot load \sound\...."
I installed the game with the Loki installer.

Try changing soundsystem in soundsettings ingame.

I had the same problem with the sound drivers in Call of Duty.
The way that I got it to work was to open up winecfg in a terminal. That will open up the wine configuration menu if you have xwine installed I believe. From there just click on the audio tab and it will select a sound driver for you. I don't think wine selects one by default so that should fix your miles sound problem ;)
