My Battery display says it has 0.0% charge no matter how full it is.

I'm not sure but I think this is where the problem started:

I installed KDE on my normal Ubuntu (gnome) system. This was fine, but I decided I just wanted to stick with gnome, at least until I had a little more experience with Linux. I deleted all of my KDE stuff (including the KDE display manager, which Ubuntu was using for all sessions. That was bad). I believe the battery display problem started after that.

I probably deleted the wrong thing. What do should I do?

Well, I can't help on the battery issue, but if you want to get back to a pure gnome, here is an outstanding doc for doing just that:

http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/puregnome

Be sure you click on the correct release version!!

Note that there is no bias - on that site you'll find docs for doing a "pure Kubuntu" or "pure Xubuntu" as well. Other great docs can be found there as well - the author has really performed a great service for us.

Absolutely essential for exactly this issue, or for friends that may have installed from a demo DVD from a magazine that throws all THREE desktop environments on the disk..

Huh... that totally did not work.

I appriciate the link though. Very interesting sight, and it's good to have finally gotten all the stuff from those other environments out.

My battery still displays 0%

any other takers? It may not have been related to the KDE stuff. I dunno.
